This palace is yet another main attraction in Kuala Terengganu. Unlike other traditional palaces, the design of this palace has a hint of French architecture. Overlooking the vibrant Kuala Terengganu waterfront, this palace was constructed during the reign of Sultan Zainal Abidin III in 1987. originally called Istana Hijau (the Green Palace), what sets this palace apart from others is the construction of the buildings using limestone mixed with clay, coarse salt, egg white and honey to strengthen its structure. Unfortunately, the palace caught fire before the World War II but was reconstructed in the post war era.
Today, the Istana Maziah is the for royal celebrations, royal weddings, conferment of titles and receptions for local and foreign dignitaries.
