KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 20 — The Terengganu government is concerned with the arrival of too many tourists to resort islands in the state.
State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Rahin Mohd Said feared that the presence of too many tourists on the islands could cause pollution and damage the corals in the area.
“It is because of this a study will be conducted to ascertain the condition at the islands is preserved,” he told reporters today.
He said about 2,000 foreign and domestic tourists went to the resort islands like Pulau Kapas, Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Tenggol and Pulau Redang every day.
Although, they brought lucrative returns to the state, the arrival of too many people could cause damage to the environment in the long term, he added.
In another development, Rahin said work on Pulau Warisan, a man-made lake, was almost completed and that a craft gallery would also be built on the island. — Bernama

This is the big problem in Tourism Industry.Tourist arrival are very important but sometimes alot of people will give more effect to the environment. In the island, tourist arrival will affect more coral reef and destroy sea life. But this another price we must pay.Goverment must do something to protect our beautiful places and make more rules for tourist
